Reading and Math

The weeks are going by and before we know it, another school year will be over, InshaALLAH. What I am trying to focus on in the next month or so is fine-tuning my son's reading and writing. He is reading compound words and sentences now and he's on his third Explode the Code workbook. He's also coming along with Saxon Phonics but I feel like he needs more practice reading aloud. Note: I just noticed the words in his workbook and can't help but think of drugs O_O

He's doing well in math and has really grasped the concepts well. Right now, he's adding and subtracting single digit numbers and doing daily math drills.

My daughter has recently added copywork to her list of hobbies. On her own, she has copied words from her dictionary into her personal notebook. Here is a page that she shared with me:

Here she is learning about cups, milliliters and liters and getting plenty of unwarranted help.

asallamu alaikum,
Hey Sr Nakia
Hope this finds you and your family in the best of health and eman. I would love if you could do a post on the various curriculums/books you have used and your opinions of them and what you will be using for the next year. We are busy planning for 1st grade inshaAllah and could really use some advice from an expert! Thanks for all you do and we hope inshaAllah we can get better at handwriting so we can start writing Maryam again soon!
