What We're Doing for Literature

I saw the Invincible Abdullah series some time ago and made a mental note.

In an age where Harry Potter and Chronicles of Narnia are mentioned on nearly every secular homeschool blog, I desired a series of books that we Muslims could enjoy for our children and ourselves. I don't know if this is it, after all, we haven't read them yet, but if it's good, InshaALLAH, I'll let you know. The series is four paperbacks with corresponding workbooks, purchased separately. I got mine from Islamic Bookstore, (this isn't a paid advertisement by the way - it was cheaper for me since I'm in Canada).

Asalaamu Alaikum

My kids have read these books but we didn't have the workbooks;bought them when I homeschooled the first time 12 yrs ago. Kids loved them...very exciting plots.

As salaamu 'alaikum,

May ALLAH make things easy for you, AMEEN.

It's good to hear feedback about the books - I'm looking forward to reading them, InshaALLAH. We're always glad to read something adventurous.

Take care,
wa salaam,
Nakia

Asalamualekom Sis Nakia,
Any updated reviews on these?

So far I've been mostly disappointed with Islamic based stories, they either have questionable material or are REALLY badly written. These look really nice though!

Wa 'alaikum as salaam,

So far Emma, these are well written. They are probably for a little older crowd but I want them to be exposed to the language. As we go through the first one, I make sure that they tell me what they think is going on and we discuss it.

I haven't read that much yet because I'm still reading Black Beauty to her.

InshaALLAH I will let you know how it goes though.

Take care,
wa salaam,
Nakia
